We have upgraded our web server on March 27. This was long overdue. Besides being faster and hopefully more secure, it will also reduce some compatibility issues and allow us to use more software.
Before upgrading, we were careful to save several backups on two different servers, but managed to destroy them anyway. Specifically, we lost all database entries dating from after December 6, 2007. This includes all users that were added after December 6, and all changes made to dynamic pages after December 6. Please accept our apologies, we are really sorry for this.
If your account was wiped out, you can of course apply for a new one.
Files that were uploaded still exist. We can't put them online, because we can't tell which files were meant only for a smaller cycle of users. We do not know the owner, only the date they were uploaded. If you describe them we can send them to you.
Also, if you lost a page that was published (viewable to people not logged in), you might be able to retrieve it from the cache of a search engine. In google for example you can get a cached page by typing in some key words from your page, together with the term site:complexity-research.org. If you remember the path, you can even be more specific, like site:complexity-research.org/myproject. From the search results, click on the 'cached' link. In fact we have already done so for some pages, and hope to restore them to you soon.
Again, please except our excuses.
